Job Description

EV Charging Validation Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Execute verification and validation testing for vehicles charger interoperability across various identified supplier DC charging systems.
  • Develop and implement test cases derived from interoperability and conformance standards (e.g., CCS, ISO 15118, DIN 70121) in collaboration with Powertrain Engineering, Firmware, and Integration/Validation teams.
  • Create structured test plans and maintain comprehensive test suites, ensuring clear documentation to support engineering design decisions.
  • Configure, operate, and troubleshoot test equipment, including engineering tools (e.g., Vector CANoe, CANalyzer), power supplies, electronic loads, and charging test assets.
  • Manage test infrastructure, including hardware configurations, equipment calibration, software versions, and test documentation.
  • Investigate field issues by analyzing vehicle and charging logs (CAN, Ethernet), performing root cause analysis, validating fixes, and driving issues to closure.
  • Support integration, commissioning, and supplier validation activities, requiring up to 50% travel to various field sites.

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in EV charging systems, including charging session analysis and validation.
  • Strong understanding of EV/EVSE charging fundamentals, interoperability, and vehicle-level validation.
  • Solid knowledge of DC fast charging technologies and global standards such as

  • Experience analyzing communication protocols such as CAN, PLC, and serial interfaces using tools like CANalyzer, PCAN View, Wireshark, and terminal interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet, SPI, I2C).
  • Experience working safely with high-voltage systems (up to ~500 VDC) and AC power systems (single- and three-phase).
