Head of Applications

A well-established bank in London is looking to hire a Head of Applications to take ownership of its core business applications and application strategy.

This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for the stability, evolution, and strategic direction of critical banking systems, working closely with technology teams, business stakeholders, and third‑party vendors.

What you’ll be doing:

• Owning the end‑to‑end application landscape , including core banking and key integrations
• Leading and developing a team across application support, development, and architecture
• Balancing change and transformation with day‑to‑day operational stability
• Working with the business to ensure applications support growth, efficiency, and customer experience
• Managing vendors, incidents, SLAs, and regulatory expectations in a controlled banking environment

What they’re looking for:

• Strong experience leading banking or financial services applications
• Background in core banking platforms (e.g. Equation, Temenos, FLEXCUBE, Finacle or similar)
• Comfortable owning both delivery and support
• Solid understanding of application lifecycle management , DevOps, and cloud (Azure ideal)
• A collaborative leader who can communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
