Job Description

Our client, a leader in automotive innovation, is seeking a Firmware Validation Engineer - Brake & Steering to join their team. As a Firmware Validation Engineer - Brake & Steering, you will be part of the engineering department supporting the chassis actuator engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excellent collaboration abilities, and a proactive mindset, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Firmware Validation Engineer - Brake & Steering

Location: Foster City, CA

Pay Range: $86/hour + Benefits

What's the Job?

  • Lead the development and validation of control firmware for brake and steering systems in collaboration with tier-one partners.
  • Manage system specifications, conduct failure mode and effects analysis, and develop validation plans to ensure system reliability and safety.
  • Oversee firmware release schedules, coordinate with suppliers, and maintain detailed project development timelines.
  • Create diagnostic scripts and tools to support firmware validation and troubleshooting processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Zoox to leverage expertise in AI, Mechatronics, Computer Vision, and Robotics for continuous innovation.

What's Needed?

  • BS or MS in engineering or a related field with 6+ years of experience in the automotive or similar industry.
  • Proven track record in debugging complex hardware, software, and firmware issues.
  • Experience with automotive actuator controls and validation methods.
  • Knowledge of automotive program development, release processes, and long-term schedule planning.
  • Experience with test methodologies and developing HIL test assets; familiarity with tools like CANalyzer, dSPACE, Polarion, Jira, and Confluence is a plus.
