Senior Middleware Administrator / Middleware Engineer

Location: Charlotte, NC

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Middleware Administrator with extensive experience managing enterprise middleware platforms across Linux environments. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), Oracle WebLogic, IBM HTTP Server (IHS), Apache Tomcat, along with experience in middleware security, performance tuning, automation, cloud, and production support.

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of Middleware Administration experience.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS ND) administration.
  • Strong experience with Oracle WebLogic Server (12c/14c).
  • Experience administering IBM HTTP Server (IHS), Apache HTTP Server, and Apache Tomcat.
  • Expertise in installation, configuration, deployment, patching, upgrades, and migration of middleware environments.
  • Strong experience with JVM tuning, Heap Dump, Thread Dump, analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with SSL/TLS certificates, security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with WebSphere Clustering, Deployment Manager (DMGR), Node Agents, Virtual Hosts, JDBC Providers, Data Sources, and High Availability.
  • Experience supporting production environments, incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and 24x7 on-call support.
  • Experience with Disaster Recovery (DR), failover planning, and Business Continuity.
  • Strong Linux administration experience (RHEL/AIX/Unix).
  • Experience with Jenkins, Git, Ansible, Shell Scripting, or other automation tools.
  • Experience with AWS or OpenShift/Kubernetes is highly preferred.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, AppDynamics, Grafana, Nagios.
  • Knowledge of IBM MQ, DataPower, F5 Load Balancer, and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS or Middleware Certifications preferred.
  • Banking, Healthcare, or Enterprise production support experience.
  • Experience working in Agile/ITIL environments.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, administer, patch, and upgrade enterprise middleware platforms.
  • Deploy and support enterprise applications across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
  • Perform middleware performance tuning, JVM optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Troubleshoot production incidents and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Configure SSL certificates, load balancing, clustering, and security controls.
  • Automate middleware administration using Shell scripting, Ansible, or Jenkins.
  • Support Disaster Recovery, High Availability, and Business Continuity initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Development, Infrastructure, Network, Database, and Security teams to ensure platform reliability.
  • Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in CAB meetings, release management, and 24x7 production support rotations.

Preferred Domain: Banking, Financial Services, Healthcare, Insurance, or Enterprise Applications.
