Job Description


Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Senior Engineer - Systems to join their team on a contract basis in New Malden. This role is integral to the development of the SMCS programmes, ensuring the system's behaviour is well-defined, assisting in the design of functionality, and supporting verification of the product. The contract is expected to last for 12 months with a working pattern of 3-4 days per week.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Requirements database with associated contractual and acceptance details.
  • Lead the testing and acceptance process for both hardware and software releases.


Supporting the Systems team in:

  • Elaborating and agreeing on system requirements, understanding changes in system capability against an established design baseline.
  • Developing design specifications and carrying out design activities in line with quality and technical standards.
  • Developing, maintaining, and improving engineering processes and procedures based on technical developments and operational needs.
  • Coordinating and completing technical analyses and investigations, evaluating technical options, and preparing reports with recommendations.
  • Reviewing and agreeing on External Interface documents and managing interface baselines.
  • Leading other engineering activities such as performance testing, human factors, safety analysis, and information assurance.


Job Requirements:

  • Ability to operate in a large, complex multi-project environment.
  • Proven experience with various systems engineering disciplines, such as Requirements Analysis, System Design, Human Factors, Performance Analysis, System Acceptance Management, Safety (e.g. Functional Failure & Fault Tree Analysis), Security.
  • Experience delivering systems, working to deadlines, and working in a pressurised environment.
