Lead Construction Safety Manager (Data Center / Owner's Rep)
Position Summary

The Lead Construction Safety Manager is responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety programs on complex data center construction projects. This position provides technical safety leadership, ensures regulatory and client compliance, manages project risk, and promotes a proactive safety culture through collaboration with project leadership, contractors, subcontractors, and client representatives.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation and execution of EHS and operational initiatives across assigned projects.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce project-specific safety programs in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, ANSI standards, client requirements, and site-specific procedures.
  • Partner with project management, owners, contractors, subcontractors, and joint venture teams to integrate safety throughout project planning and execution.
  • Conduct site hazard assessments, safety audits, inspections, and field observations to identify risks and ensure compliance.
  • Review and oversee Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and other high-risk work planning activities.
  • Manage subcontractor safety performance through preconstruction meetings, orientations, toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, and ongoing field oversight.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs, including new employee orientation, train-the-trainer sessions, and task-specific instruction.
  • Lead incident reporting, investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and emergency response planning.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics, OSHA reporting, incident trends, and leading indicators to support continuous improvement and project objectives.
  • Maintain safety documentation, compliance records, inspections, permits, training records, and audit findings.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to site safety personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
  • Support Safety Directors and project leadership in achieving organizational safety goals through proactive risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Minimum eight (8) years of construction or industrial safety experience that includes work on large-scale, multi-employer complex construction projects (e.g. critical infrastructure).
  • Must have some experience working on data center construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading site safety programs and supervising safety professionals on complex construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards, ANSI standards, NFPA 70E, fall protection, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, and MEWP operations.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, hazard assessments, compliance audits, and safety training.
  • Proficient in safety management systems, performance metrics, and risk management software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED
  • OSHA 3115 (Fall Protection)
  • OSHA 7115 (Lockout/Tagout)
  • NFPA 70E
