Job Description

Role: Ab Initio Administrator
Location: Crystal City, Arlington, VA – 5 Days Onsite
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Clearance Required: Active Secret Clearance (DoD) Job Description
Our client is seeking an Ab Initio Administrator for the Defense Pay Program to manage, administer, maintain, and support the Ab Initio ETL platform and its associated environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for platform installation, configuration, upgrades, performance tuning, security, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability of the Ab Initio infrastructure. This role works closely with development, infrastructure, database, and DevOps teams to support enterprise data integration solutions in a secure DoD environment.
What You'll Get to Do

  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain the Ab Initio platform across Development, Test, and Production environments.
  • Perform platform upgrades, patches, migrations, and environment refreshes while minimizing downtime.
  • Monitor system performance, optimize resource utilization, and troubleshoot platform-related issues.
  • Configure and manage Ab Initio components including Co>Operating System, Enterprise Meta>Environment (EME), Conduct>It, and related services.
  • Manage user access, security, permissions, and authentication in accordance with DoD security policies.
  • Support deployment of Ab Initio applications and coordinate releases with development teams.
  • Perform backup, recovery, disaster recovery planning, and high availability administration.
  • Monitor logs, resolve production incidents, and provide root cause analysis for platform issues.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, database, Linux/Unix, and network teams to maintain platform stability.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and administration guides.
  • Support DevOps and CI/CD initiatives for Ab Initio deployments where applicable.
  • Participate in system health checks, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
  • Provide technical support to developers and project stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
You'll Bring These Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of IT experience with 3–5+ years of hands-on Ab Initio Administration experience.
  • Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and administering the Ab Initio ETL Platform.
  • Strong experience with Enterprise Meta>Environment (EME), Co>Operating System, Conduct>It, and related Ab Initio components.
  • Experience administering Linux/Unix environments supporting Ab Initio.
  • Knowledge of shell scripting and automation.
  • Experience monitoring application and platform performance and resolving production issues.
  • Strong understanding of system administration, security, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Experience supporting enterprise ETL environments and coordinating production releases.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work in Agile SAFe Scrum teams. Nice to Have
  • Experience with Ab Initio GDE, Express>It, Metadata Hub, Conduct>It, and Enterprise Meta>Environment (EME).
  • Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Linux administration, scripting (Shell/Python), and automation.
  • Experience with enterprise scheduling tools such as Control-M or Autosys.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, and enterprise databases.
  • Experience supporting large-scale ETL production environments.
  • Familiarity with DoDAF artifacts and DoD enterprise architecture.
  • Experience supporting DoD Pay and Human Resources systems.
  • Experience working in Agile Product Teams (APTs).
  • SAFe Agilist Certification.
