At The Social Change Nest (SCN), we're radically transforming the funding landscape and strengthening civil society. We remove the financial and administrative barriers - like bank accounts and legal structures - that often prevent communities, grassroots groups and informal movements from accessing funding and focusing on their core mission. We also work closely with funders, enabling them to support social action with confidence and transparency.
What We Offer:
- An exciting job where you can meaningfully contribute to grassroots social change around the world.
- Flexible working arrangements including hybrid, remote and compressed hours
- A close knit, supportive and collaborative team environment
Your Role:
As the Global Finance Operations Senior Officer, you'll manage international payments and grant disbursements, ensuring funds reach grassroots movements securely, efficiently and in compliance with financial regulations.
- Manage and execute international payments, including regular payment runs and resolving delays or failures.
- Monitor exchange rates and advise colleagues and clients on currency decisions and financial risks.
- Provide day-to-day financial support to international clients and grassroots groups, resolving queries and maintaining strong relationships.
- Reconcile international payment platforms and foreign currency accounts, ensuring accurate financial records.
- Support improvements to financial systems, payment processes and controls, including alternative payment solutions.
- Conduct financial due diligence and compliance checks, ensuring adherence to AML, KYC and Counter-Terrorism Financing regulations.
- Maintain accurate transaction records and support audit preparation.
- Collaborate with Finance, Delivery and Governance teams to strengthen international financial operations and support colleagues with new processes.
What You'll Need
- Part-qualified accountant or qualified by experience (QBE) in a relevant financial control environment.
- Experience in finance, grantmaking or compliance within humanitarian, nonprofit or philanthropic organisations.
- Proven experience managing international payments, multi-currency transactions, foreign exchange risks and ledger reconciliations.
- Experience navigating complex international banking regulations, including payments to high-risk jurisdictions and grassroots networks.
- Knowledge of financial due diligence, risk management, AML/KYC regulations, Counter-Terrorism Financing and UK charity and banking regulations.
- Familiarity with international payment platforms and banking systems such as Wise, XE and SWIFT.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and a collaborative, culturally sensitive approach.
