Job Description
We are seeking an experienced FPGA Design Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team supporting the design and development of advanced FPGA-based solutions for aerospace and defense applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in FPGA architecture, RTL design, simulation, synthesis, timing closure, and hardware validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and verify FPGA solutions using VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Perform RTL coding, simulation, synthesis, place & route, and timing analysis.
- Develop FPGA architectures for high-speed digital signal processing and embedded systems.
- Integrate FPGA designs with processors, memory interfaces, and high-speed communication protocols.
- Debug and validate FPGA designs using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, and systems engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Create and maintain design documentation, test plans, and technical reports.
- Support board bring-up, hardware integration, and production testing.
- Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with engineering standards and customer requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in FPGA design and development.
- Strong experience with VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Hands-on experience with Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or similar FPGA development tools.
- Experience with RTL simulation tools such as ModelSim, QuestaSim, or Xcelium.
- Strong understanding of FPGA synthesis, place & route, timing closure, and static timing analysis.
- Experience with high-speed interfaces including PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, SPI, I2C, UART, or JESD204.
- Familiarity with embedded processors (ARM, MicroBlaze, Nios II, etc.) is preferred.
- Experience using lab equipment for hardware debugging and validation.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Aerospace, Defense, Avionics, or Military programs.
- Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) implementations on FPGA.
- Experience with DO-254 or similar hardware development standards.
- Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink or DSP algorithms.
- Experience with Git or other version control systems.
- Active U.S. Security Clearance is a plus (if applicable).
