Job Description

Sensor Technology Engineering (STE) is hiring for the role of System Engineer I!

STE is the United States' premier provider of radiation detectors for nuclear search, in support of Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) and Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) missions.

STE's products are focused on meeting the operational requirements of military, federal, and first responder organizations. STE is dedicated to building the industry's most sensitive and reliable radiation detectors.

The System Engineer will contribute to the development, design, and delivery of STE's industry-leading radiation detection systems. These systems will be delivered to STE's customers, forming a key element of their operational capabilities.

$80k - $110k, DOE

On-Site, M-F

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Supports optimization of production throughput and processes/procedures as needed including SW development and data analytics
  • Supports STE engineering in ongoing redesign efforts - particularly in obsolescence management
  • Responsible for the revision of BOMs and drawings and part numbers as directed
  • Performs routine troubleshooting, test and calibration in support of production
  • Supports operations (purchasing and production) to facilitate on-time and high-quality deliveries
  • Works with electrical and mechanical engineering staff to document changes made to hardware and deviations from standard procedures as necessary

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Required:
  • BS/MS in Engineering or other relevant technical degree.
  • Excellent trouble-shooting capability and analytical skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and organizing incoming projects.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred:
  • Experience using electrical and optical measuring instruments: multimeters, oscilloscopes, IR cameras and microscopes.
  • Experience with radiation detection technologies
  • Experience with proper handling of ESD sensitive parts, including PCB cards.
  • Degree in physics, nuclear engineering, or similar
