Job Description – Analyst, Underwriting & Portfolio Management

Position Overview

  • Support the Underwriting & Portfolio Management organization.
  • Work with internal partners to underwrite new transactions and manage existing loan portfolios.
  • Support the REIF / Real Estate Fund Finance Group within Commercial Real Estate (CRE).
  • Analyze credit risk while supporting business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct due diligence on industry and company performance.
  • Perform financial analysis and identify risks, disparities, and potential mitigants.
  • Prepare and review financial modeling inputs.
  • Understand financial model mechanics and evaluate overrides or exceptions.
  • Analyze loan structuring options based on collateral and borrower valuation.
  • Prepare credit approval documents and contribute to deal review and pipeline meetings.
  • Coordinate and complete loan closing requirements.
  • Assist senior underwriters with reviewing and negotiating legal documentation.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders and respond to client requests.
  • Prepare term sheets, commitment letters, and fee letters with guidance.
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of existing customers.
  • Complete annual reviews and material/non-material portfolio modifications.
  • Monitor risk ratings and recommend upgrades or downgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and complete portfolio data.
  • Identify, escalate, and resolve problem accounts with relevant teams.
  • Build strong relationships across business and functional teams.
  • Mentor and train rotational analysts and new hires.
  • Participate in internal initiatives to improve business efficiency.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree or military experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in:
    • Credit underwriting
    • Portfolio management
    • Commercial real estate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in:
    • Finance
    • Accounting
    • Economics
    • Or another relevant field
  • Previous underwriting, portfolio management, or asset management experience.
  • Coursework or training in Commercial Real Estate and Credit Risk Management.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Strong financial analysis and financial modeling skills.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
