About the Organization

Our client is a leading provider of corrosion engineering, cathodic protection, and corrosion monitoring solutions, focused on protecting and preserving critical infrastructure.

The organization provides professional corrosion consulting and cathodic protection engineering services to major oil and gas companies, government agencies, municipal water, sewer and gas utilities, and public transportation agencies. The company is part of a larger organization specializing in water infrastructure and asset protection solutions.

About the Role

The Engineering Manager will oversee the Houston Region's technical organization, including engineering resources, technical work standards, quality, employee training and development, and technical support for Operations, Business Development, R&D, customers, and industry partners.

The position will provide technical leadership to Corrosion Engineers while ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and according to established engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate the work of Corrosion Engineers.

  • Provide technical guidance on engineering principles, cathodic protection design, material applications, survey techniques, and analytical reporting.

  • Hire, train, mentor, and develop engineering employees.

  • Guide employees regarding company policies, procedures, and expectations.

  • Maintain positive employee relations and address personnel issues as needed.

  • Conduct annual employee performance evaluations.

  • Plan and coordinate field activities with Sales and Operations teams.

  • Support preparation of the annual engineering budget by providing resource and project data.

  • Implement and monitor safety program compliance for engineering personnel.

  • Interact directly with customers regarding complex technical issues and specialized engineering requirements.

  • Organize, schedule, and coordinate engineering resources and subcontractors to maximize utilization and meet project commitments.

  • Review preliminary surveys, design information, and proposals with engineering staff.

  • Establish project objectives, expectations, methodologies, and procedures.

  • Visit jobsites to provide technical guidance and support successful project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.

  • CP-3 or CP-4 level Cathodic Protection experience/background — HIGH PRIORITY.

  • 8+ years of Cathodic Protection Engineering experience.

  • 3+ years of supervisory or people-management experience preferred.

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.

  • Experience working closely with Operations and Business Development teams.

  • Strong understanding of cathodic protection design, engineering principles, field surveys, and technical reporting.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop employees.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and cross-functional teams.

  • Experience using MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and databases.

  • Ability to learn and adapt to new applications and technologies.

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and effectively manage competing priorities.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are particularly interested in candidates who have:

  1. CP-3 or CP-4 level Cathodic Protection experience

  2. 8+ years of Cathodic Protection Engineering experience

  3. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field

  4. 3+ years of supervisory/people-management experience

  5. Experience partnering with Operations and Business Development

  6. Strong technical leadership and customer-facing communication skills

  7. Experience supporting field engineering activities and cathodic protection projects
