DevOps / Application Engineer

Application DevOps Engineer - Python<br />London - Hybrid Contract £550 - £650 per day insideIR35 Financial Services Firm is hiring for an experienced Application DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team supporting critical technology platforms.<br />This is a hands-on role focused on Python automation, production stability, application resilience and continuous improvement within a complex, high-volume technology environment.

You will work across application, infrastructure and engineering teams to improve the reliability, scalability and operational performance of business-critical platforms.

Responsibilities:<br />* Develop Python-based automation and tooling to improve operational efficiency.<br />* Support and enhance critical production applications and services.<br />* Drive improvements across resilience, availability, performance and capacity.<br />* Manage deployments, releases, production readiness and failover activities.<br />* Implement monitoring, alerting and observability solutions.<br />* Troubleshoot complex application, infrastructure and batch-processing issues.<br />* Identify root causes and deliver sustainable technical solutions.<br />* Contribute to CI/CD, automation and wider DevOps and engineering best practices.

Skills and Experience:<br />* Strong Python development skills, particularly for automation &amp; operational tooling.<br />* Experience in DevOps, Production Engineering, Platform Engineering or SRE.<br />* Experience supporting business-critical, high-availability applications.<br />* Good understanding of CI/CD, deployment, monitoring and software development lifecycles.<br />* Knowledge of distributed systems, resilience, failover and capacity management.<br />* Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across applications and infrastructure.<br />* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.<br />* Proactive approach with strong ownership and problem-solving capability.

It would be an added advantage if you had any of the following:<br />* Financial Services, Capital Markets or Trading Technology experience.<br />* Exposure to risk, trading or regulatory technology.<br />* Cloud, containers and modern DevOps tooling.<br />* Large-scale distributed or high-performance computing environments.
