Windows Endpoint Remediation Engineer

World Wide Technology is looking for a Windows Endpoint Remediation Engineer. This role is part of WWT’s Strategic Resourcing services and is a contract role. The candidate will be supporting a WWT customer and will be employed by one of WWT’s preferred partners. Position Overview:We are seeking a hands-on Windows Endpoint Remediation Engineer to support an enterprise-wide initiative focused on improving the patching and vulnerability posture of Windows workstations.

This role will focus on identifying Windows endpoints that are not successfully receiving required patches or have outstanding vulnerabilities, investigating the underlying causes, and performing the remediation activities necessary to bring devices into compliance.

The ideal candidate enjoys troubleshooting individual endpoint issues, working through a high volume of remediation tasks, and ensuring that vulnerabilities and patching issues are fully resolved. This role is execution-focused and emphasizes hands-on remediation rather than architecture, engineering strategy, or automation development.

Responsibilities:

  • Review endpoint patching and vulnerability reports to identify Windows workstations requiring remediation.
  • Investigate workstations missing patches, failing to receive updates, or reporting unresolved vulnerabilities.
  • Log into and troubleshoot Windows endpoints to determine root causes of patching and update failures.
  • Perform hands-on remediation of endpoint vulnerabilities and patching issues.
  • Apply Windows updates, patches, configuration changes, and other corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot applications or software that are preventing successful patch deployment.
  • Update, repair, or remove outdated, vulnerable, or unused third-party applications as needed.
  • Identify and resolve endpoint configuration issues impacting compliance.
  • Research vulnerability findings and determine appropriate remediation actions.
  • Validate successful remediation and confirm vulnerabilities or patching issues have been resolved.
  • Document remediation efforts and update tracking and reporting systems.
  • Coordinate with local support teams or site resources when hands-on assistance is required.
  • Collaborate with endpoint, security, infrastructure, and application teams on complex remediation efforts.
  • Identify recurring trends and recommend opportunities for improved endpoint management and remediation processes.
  • Assist with ongoing cleanup and health improvement initiatives across the Windows endpoint environment. 

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting Windows endpoints/workstations in an enterprise environment.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and administering Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of Windows patching and software update processes.
  • Ability to independently diagnose and resolve workstation issues with minimal supervision.
  • Experience identifying installed software, application versions, and system configurations.
  • Experience troubleshooting failed or incomplete software and patch installations.
  • Ability to research vulnerability findings and determine appropriate remediation steps.
  • Basic understanding of endpoint security concepts and vulnerability management.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of remediation activities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Intune or other enterprise endpoint management platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM).
  • Experience supporting Windows Update and Windows Update for Business.
  • Experience troubleshooting third-party application patching issues.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management platforms such as Tenable, Nessus, or similar solutions.
  • Experience with PowerShell or basic scripting.
  • Exposure to automated software deployment and endpoint patching tools.
  • Familiarity with Patch My PC or similar third-party application patching platforms.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed endpoint environments.
