Quick Overview
Job Description
We are seeking a Digital Twin / Simulation Engineer with strong experience in physics-based modeling for manufacturing plant environments, especially chemical process equipment such as tanks and mixing systems. This role will support simulation and modeling work tied to chemical mixing, fluid behavior, and reaction-driven process environments, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked with Siemens simulation products including STAR-CCM+ and M-Star CFD.
Core responsibilities
- Develop and refine digital twin or first-principles simulation models for tank-based and process equipment in a chemical plant setting.
- Perform physics-based modeling of fluid flow, pressure, temperature, mixing behavior, and chemical or molecular reaction environments inside tanks and related equipment.
- Build, validate, and calibrate simulation models using plant, lab, or historical operating data to improve predictive accuracy.
- Analyze manufacturing process behavior and recommend design or operating improvements for process performance, scale-up, safety, or efficiency.
- Work with engineering, operations, and plant stakeholders to translate process conditions into actionable simulation outputs and engineering insights.
- Support occasional onsite collaboration at the North Carolina plant as needed.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with digital twin development, CFD, or advanced process simulation in chemical, process, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong background in physics-based modeling involving tanks, reactors, mixing systems, or fluid-process equipment.
- Experience modeling parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow, mixing, heat transfer, mass transfer, or reaction behavior in process systems.
- Experience with Siemens tools, ideally STAR-CCM+ and/or M-Star CFD.
- Ability to work independently in a remote contract role while supporting plant-facing engineering needs.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience in chemical plants, specialty chemicals, batch processing, reactors, or process manufacturing environments.
- Experience with tank simulation, stirred systems, gas-liquid mixing, or reaction engineering.
- Familiarity with model validation, calibration, reduced-order modeling, or scale-up studies.
- Programming or data analysis capability in Python, MATLAB, or similar technical tools.
- Strong communication skills for working with process engineers, operations teams, and technical leadership.
