Job Description

Role Summary
The Chief Engineer provides strategic technical leadership, overseeing engineering and design activities across the organization. This senior-level position directs engineering standards, ensures project quality and compliance, and guides multidisciplinary teams to achieve organizational goals. The role entails close collaboration with executive leadership, project managers, clients, and operations to maintain engineering excellence and drive innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the highest-level technical authority for engineering design, analysis, and project execution.
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, procedures, and best practices to ensure technical consistency and quality.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering managers, project engineers, and design teams.
  • Review and approve major engineering deliverables, technical reports, calculations, specifications, and design packages.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical challenges, offering recommendations for high-risk engineering issues.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop departmental goals, strategic initiatives, and growth plans.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements, maintaining industry expertise.
  • Lead technical reviews, design reviews, constructability assessments, and risk evaluations.
  • Support recruitment, professional development, and performance management of engineering personnel.
  • Represent the organization in client meetings, industry forums, and regulatory engagements, promoting continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university required; Master’s preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive engineering experience with significant leadership responsibilities.
  • 5+ years of engineering leadership overseeing multidisciplinary teams and major projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical system design, power distribution, and industrial facility standards.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA, IEEE, API, NESC, NEC, and other relevant standards.
  • Demonstrated experience as a senior technical authority on large capital projects.
  • Proficiency with engineering analysis software such as ETAP, EasyPower, SKM, or PSS/E preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support projects and client engagement.
  • Availability for occasional overtime.

Publishing Pay Range: $200,000 - $213,000 annually

This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
