Description

SAIC is looking for a Engineering Technical Support IV to support and assist Site Leadership of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Information Operations (UAVIO) program Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC-Pac), Naval Base Point Loma, by providing technical expertise necessary to build custom analog and digital cables based on Government-provided CAD drawings as well as production and repairs of electronics equipment to support the UAVIO RF laboratory space and technologies under test.

Supports engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment. Applications may include electronic circuits, photonics and logic systems. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. . Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Collects, maintains, organizes, compiles, and manipulates technical data. Prepares engineering documentation, reports, drawings (sketches/flow charts/diagrams/schematics, etc.). Performs mathematical calculations per engineering specifications. Undertakes analysis of data where guidelines are provided.

This role is ONSITE in San Diego, CA. Must be local to the area. There will be up to 10% of travel involved for this role.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Serve as a skilled Electronics Technician for the UAVIO Project and provide assembly of analog and digital cables for use in systems in the realm of signal processing, information processing, and display processing.
  • Assemblies include coaxial cables, RF connectors, electrical cables, ribbons, combined with complex connectors/in-outs.
  • Coaxial cables will be based upon, but not limited to, RG-316DB, LMR-200, LMR-400, FBT-195. RF Connectors include, but not limited to:
    • N-Type
    • SMA
    • SMB
    • SSMB
    • MCX
  • Electrical connectors such as, but not limited to:
    • Glenair 177 series, 790 series
    • JST XHP-7, PAP-06V-S, PAP-04V-S, XHP-P
    • Molex 43645-0200
      • SAMTEC T1M44-L-2830-01-G, SPHD-001T-P0.5
      • RJ-45
  • Shall utilize certifications utilizing certified micro-miniature (2M) soldering techniques on high-density circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and surface-mount components for hand soldering and Cable Wire Harness Assemblies IAW IPC-A-620 to construct, repair, and test reliable cable assemblies, electronics components, and subsystems.
  • Shall provide diagnosis, repair, refurbishment, and field operation requalification of aircraft housings, structural fasteners, cameras, cables, connectors, filters, amplifiers, and antennas.
  • Shall test electronic and RF signal and power levels both on the bench and in simulated flight-testing environments using adjustable power supplies, RF power meters, and test software to validate payload performance.
  • Shall provide functional testing, quality inspections, and troubleshooting on components, sub-assemblies, and fully integrated systems to identify and resolve wiring faults, such as open or crossed wires, broken circuit traces, reattachment of missing components and refurbishment of thermal pads.
  • Shall operate electronics test multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and microscopes to perform tests.
  • Shall provide repair of units returned through UAVIO Sustainment programs identified during fault evaluation.
  • In addition to technical tasks, shall support the setup and maintenance of UAVIO laboratory spaces and test fixtures, as well as inventory management for technician tools and supplies.
  • Shall provide general maintenance on lab tools, test equipment, and workbenches as required.


Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • AA Degree in related discipline and six (6) years or more of related experience; Or, High School and eight (8) years of related experience with relevant certification
  • Must have an Active Secret clearance to start
