Job Description

What's the role?

The Senior Manager - Brand Product is responsible for driving product strategy and delivery across News Corp Australia's lifestyle brands, including Taste, Australian Best Recipes, Escape, and Body + Soul. This role focuses on initiatives that grow audience engagement, increase revenue, and strengthen brand positioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Roadmap Ownership: Define and drive the strategic vision and quarterly product roadmaps for FNL lifestyle brands, ensuring all initiatives directly accelerate audience growth, user engagement, and revenue.
  • End-to-End Product Delivery: Lead quarterly planning and prioritisation sessions; write comprehensive product briefs, user stories, and requirements documentation while defining clear success metrics and scope.
  • Editorial & Storytelling Partnership: Collaborate deeply with editorial teams to ensure product developments elevate digital storytelling, optimise content strategy, and deliver an exceptional user experience (UX).
  • Commercial Integration: Partner with commercial teams to integrate revenue objectives into product planning, identifying and executing opportunities to maximise monetisation and measure financial outcomes.
  • Cross-Functional Technical Alignment: Work side by side with Technical Product Managers (TDD), designers, and UX teams to refine product requirements, guide design considerations, and ensure high quality, seamless technical delivery.
  • Data-Driven Optimization: Analyse audience behaviour, market trends, competitor benchmarking, and core media metrics (page views, engaged reach, conversion, and bounce rates) to uncover and pitch growth opportunities.
  • Marketing & Campaign Synergy: Coordinate with marketing teams to leverage product features that scale user acquisition, enhance content promotions, and support long term audience retention strategies.
  • Continuous Innovation: Proactively brainstorm, test, and validate new product concepts and innovative solutions through user feedback, surveys, and usability testing to strengthen brand market positioning.
  • Post-Launch Performance Monitoring: Establish KPIs for all launched initiatives, lead post implementation reviews and utilise performance data to drive iterative optimisation.
  • Cross-Team Problem Solving: Act as the primary, agile point of contact to unblock delivery friction and facilitate quick, diplomatic resolutions between technical, editorial, and commercial stakeholders.
Who are you?
  • Proven Product Management Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing digital products, ideally in media, publishing, with a strong track record of delivering audience growth and revenue impact.
  • Audience-Centric Mindset: Deep understanding of user behaviour, engagement metrics, content consumption patterns, and how to translate insights into practical product solutions.
  • Commercial Acumen: Ability to balance audience and revenue objectives, identifying opportunities to integrate commercial strategies into product initiatives without compromising user experience.
  • Strategic Thinking & Roadmapping: Skilled at creating clear, actionable product roadmaps informed by performance data, market trends, competitor analysis, and organisational priorities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working closely with editorial, commercial, marketing, and technical teams, translating complex requirements into actionable plans while maintaining stakeholder alignment.
  • Technical Awareness: Comfortable partnering with technical product teams to understand UX, design, architecture, and delivery considerations, and translating these into practical product requirements.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets, generate insights, and make informed product recommendations.
  • Innovation & Problem Solving: A proactive approach to identifying gaps and opportunities, with the ability to design innovative product solutions that strengthen brand positioning and enhance audience engagement.
  • Communication & Influence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels and clearly articulating product vision, priorities, and outcomes.
  • Project Management & Execution: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, high quality, and measurable impact.
