Job Description

Senior Software Engineer
  • Location: Raleigh, NC - onsite 2x/week preferred
  • Duration: 4-month contract, high likelihood of extension (contract-to-hire possible)

Overview
On behalf of our technology client, Procom is looking for a Senior Software Engineer. You would be joining their IT Developer Enablement Applications team to both build developer-facing applications and own the infrastructure underneath them. This is a hybrid Full-Stack/DevOps/SRE role supporting an existing, already-developed application - you're not building from scratch, you're clearing backlog and providing ongoing coding + production support.

Responsibilities
  • Execute full SDLC in an agile environment for an existing internal application
  • Build and maintain front-end interfaces (React and Angular, used roughly evenly across the codebase)
  • Develop backend services in Node.js with PostgreSQL for data persistence
  • Automate deployment and operational tasks via Ansible/Ansible Tower and Terraform
  • Manage and optimize OpenShift-based infrastructure on AWS for reliability, performance, and security
  • Own CI/CD pipelines across GitLab, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins
  • Conduct root cause analysis on incidents and drive preventive fixes; maintain uptime SLAs through monitoring/alerting
  • Apply security best practices (access controls, network config, compliance)
  • Communicate status and blockers directly to stakeholders; respond to support tickets

Required
  • 5+ years enterprise software development experience
  • 5+ years Node.js backend development
  • Working proficiency in both React and Angular (team splits usage ~50/50)
  • 5+ years RHEL/Linux administration or strong working knowledge sufficient to debug clusters (team confirmed candidates do not need to be full-time Linux admins)
  • 5+ years AWS cloud development/automation experience
  • 3+ years OpenShift
  • Expert-level GitLab/GitHub CI/CD
  • Advanced SQL / PostgreSQL
  • Experience with containers/orchestration (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Ansible/Ansible Tower automation experience
  • Experience with Backstage plugins
  • Terraform
