A boutique investment bank is in build-out mode for its North America investment banking and capital markets franchise, and is hiring a Managing Director to help lead that expansion. This is a genuine build: the current ECM team is three people, and this MD hire (alongside a VP also joining) is central to scaling it. If you want a real mandate to shape a growing platform rather than inherit someone else's book, this is worth a look.

What you'll do:

1. Own core North America client relationships spanning large public companies, PE-backed businesses and financial sponsors
2. Lead execution on equity financings: IPOs, follow-ons, converts, SPAC/deSPAC advisory, M&A advisory and other equity-linked structures (roughly 80% ECM, 20% advisory)
3. Set strategy and priorities for the North America franchise
4. Originate new business and client relationships across sectors
5. Build out the team as the franchise scales

What you'll bring:

1. 15+ years in investment banking, capital markets or private equity with a real ECM track record
2. Demonstrated fee generation across origination, execution and closing
3. A portable network: ideally corporate and family-office relationships relevant to capital markets deals, and/or sponsor relationships that could drive lower middle-market M&A
4. SIE, Series 63 and Series 79 required within 90 days of hire if not already held

Bonus points for:

1. SPAC/deSPAC advisory experience
2. Series 24
