Job Description
Right now, projects at PBE are run by IT leads squeezing them in around their day jobs. And with more than 100 initiatives on the roadmap, that has hit its ceiling. That gap is your opening.
You will not be maintaining a tidy, finished PMO. You will be building it, deciding how intake, governance, and reporting actually work, and setting the standard the rest of the business follows.
You start hands on as a project manager and grow the function around you, with scope to bring in and lead your own coordinator as it matures. Done well, this is your next job and the one after it.
You will report straight to the VP of IT, with no layers to dilute the message. The calls you make on what gets prioritised, and how it gets delivered, land with someone who has the authority and the appetite to back them.
The flagship on your desk is a large scale ERP transformation spanning multiple sites and continents. The kind of programme that does not come around often and earns its place on any CV. New greenfield operations are coming online in Virginia and Spain, so the international exposure is real, and a valid passport will get some use.
PBE Group is a diversified industrial business rooted in the Hunter region, spanning mining equipment, manufacturing, electronics, and industrial services across several continents.
For you, that means breadth: ERP, MRP, finance, CRM, and PLM/PDM systems across multiple businesses, so the variety reaches well beyond a single P&L or a single platform, and the same old routine never gets a chance to set in.
What you'll be responsible forYou will be the go to person for project delivery across PBE Group, connecting IT, business stakeholders, and senior leadership. The portfolio is broad and commercially weighted: ERP and MRP, finance systems, CRM, and PLM/PDM, modernised across sites on more than one continent. No two weeks look the same.
- Establishing IT governance, a structured project lifecycle, and the intake and prioritisation processes the business does not yet have.
- Owning and managing a portfolio of roughly 100 projects over the next 18 to 24 months.
- Leading a large scale ERP transformation across multiple sites and continents, modernising core platforms including the current Jeeves ERP.
- Acting as hands on project manager for complex initiatives across ERP, MRP, business systems (CRM, BI, reporting), and infrastructure.
- Supporting system rollouts into new greenfield operations, including Virginia (USA) and Spain, planned for January 2027.
- Building the PMO function, with the templates, dashboards, and reporting that bring real visibility to the portfolio.
- Running governance forums such as project boards and steering committees, and providing clear, executive ready reporting.
You will be equally comfortable setting direction and rolling up your sleeves to deliver. This role sits at the intersection of technology and business, and you will bring credibility on both sides. Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments is not essential, but it will make your judgement relevant from day one.
- Proven experience as an IT Programme Manager or Senior Project Manager delivering complex technology and business systems projects.
- A track record of setting up or maturing a PMO function.
- Demonstrated delivery of ERP or enterprise business systems implementations.
- A hands on, delivery focused mindset, comfortable owning the detail as well as the direction.
- Strong stakeholder management across distributed, international teams.
- Manufacturing or engineering exposure, which is highly regarded though not essential.
- Desirable: Microsoft ecosystem familiarity (M365, Azure, Power Platform, Fabric) and certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, MSP, or Agile.
We will also consider a strong step up candidate from a project or senior project management background who is ready for their first programme level role. No specific technology stack is required.
