JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior MuleSoft API & Integration Engineer with 10+ years of enterprise integration experience and extensive Banking/Financial Services domain experience.

The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on MuleSoft experience, including MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, Mule 4, Anypoint Studio, API Manager, Runtime Manager, Design Center, Exchange, CloudHub/CloudHub 2.0, and DataWeave.

Extensive Banking/Financial Services experience is mandatory. Candidates should have worked on large-scale, long-term banking or financial transformation programs, developing and supporting secure, highly scalable API and integration solutions across critical financial applications.

Candidates without substantial MuleSoft + Banking/Financial Services experience will not be considered.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, implement, and support enterprise-grade MuleSoft API and integration solutions.
  • Develop scalable integrations using Mule 4, Anypoint Platform, Anypoint Studio, DataWeave, API Manager, Runtime Manager, Exchange, and CloudHub.
  • Design and implement REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, system APIs, process APIs, and experience APIs using MuleSoft API-led connectivity.
  • Develop reusable MuleSoft APIs and integration services following API-led architecture and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Integrate banking and financial applications with core banking systems, payment platforms, lending systems, treasury systems, wealth management platforms, databases, third-party applications, and external financial services.
  • Implement secure API integrations using OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, API Keys, SAML, and enterprise IAM standards.
  • Develop complex DataWeave transformations involving JSON, XML, CSV, Java objects, flat files, and other enterprise data formats.
  • Build integrations using HTTP, HTTPS, REST, SOAP, JMS, MQ, SFTP, JDBC, Kafka, and other enterprise connectivity mechanisms.
  • Implement error handling, exception strategies, retry mechanisms, logging, transaction management, and fault-tolerant integration solutions.
  • Configure and manage MuleSoft API Manager, including policies, authentication, authorization, throttling, rate limiting, security, versioning, and API lifecycle management.
  • Design and implement highly available and scalable MuleSoft deployments using CloudHub/CloudHub 2.0 and containerized/cloud environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex production MuleSoft/API integration issues, including performance, connectivity, transformation, security, and downstream system failures.
  • Implement monitoring and observability using tools such as Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent enterprise monitoring platforms.
  • Develop automated CI/CD pipelines for MuleSoft applications using Jenkins, GitHub/GitLab, Maven, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
  • Create and maintain Technical Design Documents (TDD), Solution Design Documents (SDD), API specifications, integration specifications, and deployment documentation.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Application Teams, Security Teams, Infrastructure Teams, Business Stakeholders, and Banking Technology teams.

REQUIRED MULESOFT SKILLS

  • 10+ years of Enterprise API & Integration experience.
  • Strong hands-on MuleSoft development experience is mandatory.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Mule 4 and Anypoint Platform.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Anypoint Studio
    • API Manager
    • Runtime Manager
    • Anypoint Exchange
    • Design Center
    • CloudHub / CloudHub 2.0
    • DataWeave 2.0
  • Strong experience designing MuleSoft API-led connectivity architecture.
  • Hands-on development of System APIs, Process APIs, and Experience APIs.
  • Strong knowledge of REST, SOAP, HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, XML, SFTP, JDBC, JMS, MQ, and Kafka.
  • Advanced DataWeave transformation experience.
  • Strong understanding of API security, including OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, API Keys, and SAML.
  • Experience with MuleSoft API policies, governance, versioning, throttling, security, and lifecycle management.
  • Strong knowledge of MUnit for unit and integration testing.
  • Experience with CI/CD and DevOps for MuleSoft deployments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance-tuning experience in production MuleSoft environments.
  • Experience integrating MuleSoft with databases, cloud platforms, enterprise applications, and third-party systems.

MANDATORY BANKING / FINANCIAL SERVICES EXPERIENCE

Extensive Banking or Financial Services experience is a MUST.

Candidates must demonstrate experience working on large-scale enterprise banking/financial programs, preferably involving multiple years with major financial institutions.

BANKING DOMAIN REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience delivering long-term Banking/Financial Services transformation projects.
  • Strong understanding of financial data security, regulatory requirements, compliance, auditability, and enterprise API governance.
  • Experience working in highly regulated financial environments with strict requirements around security, availability, data privacy, and resiliency.
  • Ability to work with Banking Business Analysts, Enterprise Architects, Security Teams, Application Owners, and Financial Technology stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of integration requirements for high-volume, mission-critical financial transactions.

NICE TO HAVE

  • MuleSoft certification such as MuleSoft Certified Developer (Mule 4) or Architect certification.
  • Experience with CloudHub 2.0 and Runtime Fabric.
  • Experience with Kafka / IBM MQ / JMS in banking environments.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience with Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or similar monitoring tools.
  • Experience with AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform integration environments.
  • Experience implementing enterprise-wide API Centers of Excellence (CoE) and API governance frameworks.
