Civil Design Engineer

Civil Design Engineer | Water AMP 8 Contract: Long‑term, Outside IR35<br />Location: Maidstone, Kent (Flexible Hybrid) Our client in water is seeking an experienced Civil Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of infrastructure and non‑infrastructure projects across a broad programme of work.

This long‑term contract offers the opportunity to play a key role in developing, reviewing, and coordinating civil engineering designs within a fast‑paced, essential services environment. Hybrid working is available, with regular presence required at the Chatham office.

Key Responsibilities Produce, review, and develop civil engineering designs for water and wastewater infraastructure<br />Prepare design calculations, technical drawings, and specifications in line with industry and regulatory standards<br />Support feasibility assessments, optioneering, and early‑stage technical input<br />Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, electrical, and delivery functions<br />Ensure all designs consider buildability, cost efficiency, safety, and sustainability<br />Manage and coordinate design documentation throughout the project lifecycle<br />Provide technical support during construction, resolving design queries and responding to RFIs<br />Assist in ensuring compliance with CDM, company policies, and water sector standards<br />Contribute to continuous improvement of design methods and engineering processes Skills &amp; Experience Required Proven experience as a Civil Design Engineer within the water, utilities, or infrastructure sector<br />Strong proficiency in civil design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroDrainage (or similar)<br />Sound understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure, pipelines, pumping stations, and associated civil assets<br />Strong technical reporting and drawing production skills<br />Experience in multidisciplinary project environments<br />Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset<br />Ability to work independently while engaging proactively with stakeholders<br />If you’re a proactive and technically strong Civil Design Engineer seeking a long‑term Outside IR35 opportunity within the water sector, we’d love to hear from you
