Senior Kotlin Engineer - Cloud Issuance Platform

Location: London/Hybrid

We are looking for a senior Kotlin engineer to join a high-calibre Front Office engineering team developing a cloud-hosted issuance platform for Investment Banking Capital Markets.

This is a hands-on role focused on modern engineering practices, including Extreme Programming (XP), mob programming, test-driven development and continuous refactoring. Engineers will contribute across development, integration and production support.

Key Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience building Back End services in Kotlin
• Experience with event-sourced and event-driven architectures
• Strong experience with XP practices, including mob programming, TDD and clean code
• Cloud experience with GCP, including GKE and/or Cloud Run
• Experience with Cloud SQL, Memorystore, Artifact Registry and Cloud Logging
• Strong CI/CD and SDLC experience within regulated or enterprise environments
• Comfortable supporting high-availability, production-critical systems

Role & Responsibilities

The team is developing a new Real Time issuance platform to replace a Legacy bookbuilding system. The platform supports around 1,000 global users during time-critical execution windows and handles issuance activity exceeding €1 trillion annually.

The core platform is established, with the current focus on expanding key business functionality including sales, hedging and allocation workflows.

You will:

• Work collaboratively through mob programming and shared ownership
• Design, build and test highly maintainable Back End services
• Deliver small, incremental changes with strong automated testing
• Contribute to production support and system resilience
• Use incidents and defects to continuously improve architecture and reliability
