Job Description

We are seeking an intermediate Client Support Technician to join the Client Support Services team at the Mississippi Department of Archives & History (MDAH). This role provides comprehensive on-site hardware, software, and end-user help desk support across desktop PCs, laptops, printers, monitors, and mobile devices within the MDAH network environment.

  • Client: State of Mississippi – Department of Archives & History (MDAH)
  • Location: Jackson, MS 39201 (200 North St / 3771 Eastwood Dr)
  • Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST, 40 hours/week)
  • Role Type: Contract (11/01/2026 – 06/30/2027, minimum 1-year total expected engagement)
  • Interview Process: Webcam or Remote Interview
  • Background Requirement: Standard Criminal Background Check required

Key Responsibilities

  • Hardware & Device Support: Troubleshoot, repair, and deploy desktop PCs, laptops, monitors, printers, and mobile devices.
  • OS & Software Administration: Install, configure, update, and patch Windows 10/11 operating systems and Microsoft Office 365 productivity suites.
  • Help Desk & Ticketing: Respond to user support inquiries via phone, chat, or in person; log, track, and resolve tickets using standard service desk software.
  • User Onboarding & Identity Management: Set up new workstations and manage user account provisioning, permissions, and directory settings within Azure/Active Directory.
  • Asset & Inventory Control: Maintain complete hardware inventory records, software license tracking, and IT supply store management.
  • Escalation Management: Diagnose complex network or infrastructure issues and route them to senior systems or network administrators.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 1 to 4 years of hands-on IT support, desktop support, or service desk experience.
  • Operating Systems & Software: Knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Office 365 deployment/troubleshooting.
  • Directory Services: Hands-on experience managing user accounts and permissions in Active Directory / Azure AD.
  • Networking Fundamentals: Practical understanding of basic network protocols (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP) and endpoint security tools.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required (Vocational training, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in IT/Computer Science preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or Microsoft Certified Fundamentals / Associate credentials
