RESPONSIBILITIES
Kforce has a client in Houston, TX that is seeking an HR Generalist. This is a six-month contract role onsite in Downtown Houston with ability to work remote Fridays.
Summary
The Human Resources Generalist, Employee Relations serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, fostering a positive, respectful, and compliant workplace. This role manages employee relations matters, conducts workplace investigations, addresses employee concerns, and provides guidance on company policies and employment practices. The Generalist partners closely with leadership, Legal, Labor Relations, and HR teams to ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant resolution of workplace issues.
Essential Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employee relations issues, including workplace concerns, policy interpretation, conduct matters, and conflict resolution
- Partner with leaders to address performance, attendance, behavioral, and workplace concerns
- Provide guidance on corrective actions, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary processes
- Facilitate mediation and conflict resolution to support a productive work environment
- Identify trends and recommend proactive solutions to strengthen employee engagement and workplace culture
- Conduct thorough and impartial investigations involving policy violations, misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, ethics concerns, and employee complaints
- Gather and evaluate evidence through interviews, document reviews, and fact-finding activities
- Prepare investigation reports, findings, recommendations, and summaries
- Maintain confidential case records and documentation
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Security, and Labor Relations on sensitive matters
- Ensure investigations comply with employment laws and company policies
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Identify employee relations risks and recommend mitigation strategies
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
- 3-5 years of HR experience with a strong focus on employee relations, investigations, or workplace compliance
- Experience conducting workplace investigations and documenting findings
- Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations
- Strong conflict resolution, interviewing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
- Formal workplace investigation training or certification
- Experience supporting a multi-location workforce
- Experience working with Legal and Labor Relations teams
- Experience in utilities, energy, manufacturing, or other regulated industries

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.
