Job Description
A globally leading consumer device company headquartered in Cupertino, CA is seeking the Optical Measurement Technician will perform bring-up characterization and validation testing on prototype optical sensor modules, work involves executing a defined test suite covering beam quality, module stability, signal quality, and spectral measurements. Position is approximately 30-40 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
• Set up and configure prototype optical modules for testing, including optical, electrical, and network connections
• Execute beam quality checks using cameras, power meters, and integrating spheres
• Perform SNR measurements and spectral characterization including stray light and stability measurements
• Follow provided SOPs and operate test software and tools, with ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues independently
• Log results clearly and keep project team updated on test status and any anomalies
• Work collaboratively with engineering team to troubleshoot issues as they arise
Key Qualifications:
• Bachelor''s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field preferred; Associate''s degree considered with sufficient hands-on experience.
• 2+ years of experience in an optical laboratory or photonics-focused environment, with direct experience operating laser measurement equipment and performing system-level optical characterization.
• Hands-on experience operating and aligning laser-based optical systems
• Familiarity with optical power meters and camera-based beam profiling
• Experience with optical characterization measurements such as wavelength, stability, SNR
• Comfort handling and aligning delicate optical components and prototype hardware
• Ability to follow detailed SOPs and structured test procedures
• Comfortable working in a structured test environment with provided SOPs and software tools, with ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues independently
• Ability to maintain strict project confidentiality
Type: Contract
Duration: 4 months with extension
Work Location: Cupertino, CA (onsite)
Pay range: $30.00 - $45.00 ph (DOE)
