Position: Lead Snowflake Engineer
Location: Remote
Employment: Contract
Job Description:
We are seeking a Lead Snowflake Engineer with strong experience in Snowflake, administration, and cloud data platforms. This is a hands-on role responsible for designing, managing, securing, and optimizing the Snowflake environment while working closely with data engineering, analytics, and cloud teams.


Key Responsibilities:

Architecture & Development

  • Design and build scalable Snowflake data warehouse and data lake solutions.
  • Develop data models, ETL/ELT pipelines, and analytics-ready datasets.
  • Implement Snowflake Data Sharing and advanced features such as Cortex AI.
  • Create secure and governed data solutions using masking, encryption, and access controls.
  • Partner with business and technical teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
  • Evaluate and adopt new Snowflake capabilities to improve performance, security, and cost efficiency.

Platform Administration

  • Manage Snowflake environments across development, testing, and production.
  • Administer databases, schemas, warehouses, users, roles, and permissions.
  • Monitor platform performance, availability, and costs.
  • Troubleshoot performance, data pipeline, and access issues.
  • Implement disaster recovery, replication, backup, and failover strategies.
  • Maintain documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to Snowflake administrators and support teams.


Required Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, or Data Platforms.
  • 4+ years of hands-on Snowflake and administration experience.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Snowflake Architecture & Administration
    • Data Warehousing & Dimensional Modeling
    • Advanced SQL
    • ETL/ELT Pipeline Development
    • Performance Tuning & Cost Optimization
    • Snowflake Security & Governance
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
  • Experience with GitHub and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
