Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer – VMware Virtualization to manage, optimize, and scale our core virtualized environment. In this role, you will lead the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise VMware infrastructures (vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, NSX) while ensuring high availability, peak performance, and security across multi-site data centers.

Responsibilities:

·         Infrastructure Architecture & Administration: Design, deploy, configure, and maintain large-scale VMware vSphere (v6.x/v7.x/v8.x) environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Servers, and virtual networks.

·         Storage & Software-Defined Networking: Manage enterprise storage integration (SAN/NAS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI) alongside VMware vSAN and NSX SDDC components.

·         Performance Tuning & Optimization: Monitor system performance, resource utilization, host capacity, and VM allocation using vRealize / VMware Aria Operations (vROps).

·         High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Implement and maintain backup, replication, and failover strategies using VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM), Veeam, or similar enterprise solutions.

·         Patch Management & Upgrades: Plan and execute non-disruptive ESXi host upgrades, vCenter updates, firmware updates, and security patch deployments.

·         Automation & Scripting: Automate routine infrastructure lifecycle operations using PowerCLI, PowerShell, Python, or Ansible.

·         Incident & Problem Management: Provide Tier-3 escalation support, lead root cause analysis (RCA) for critical outages, and participate in an on-call rotation.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

·         Experience: 5+ years of dedicated hands-on experience in enterprise VMware vSphere administration and architecture.

·         Certifications: VCP-DCV (VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization) required; VCP-NV or VMC-Advanced preferred.

·         Compute & OS: Expert-level knowledge of ESXi, vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA), Windows Server, and Enterprise Linux (RHEL/CentOS).

·         Automation: Proficiency with PowerShell / VMware PowerCLI for automated cluster management and reporting.

·         Hardware: Hands-on experience with hyperconverged (HCI) and blade server platforms (Dell PowerEdge/VxRail, HPE Synergy/ProLiant, Cisco UCS).

·         Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.

·         Preferred / Desirable Skills

·         Experience migrating workloads to hybrid cloud setups (VMware on AWS, Azure VMware Solution, or Google Cloud VMware Engine).

·         Familiarity with containerization ecosystems (VMware Tanzu, Kubernetes, Docker).

Exposure to cloud automation frameworks (vRealize Automation / Aria Automation).
