Job Description

Job Title: Red Hat OpenShift (OCP) Admin Lead

Location: Remote (USA)
Job Type: Contract / Long-Term

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Red Hat OpenShift (OCP) Admin Lead to lead the administration, automation, support, and operational governance of enterprise OpenShift environments hosted on AWS. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in OpenShift, Kubernetes, Red Hat Linux, AWS Infrastructure, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Ansible, with proven experience driving platform reliability, security, scalability, and automation.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing production OpenShift clusters, implementing platform best practices, supporting CI/CD and GitOps initiatives, and mentoring engineering teams in a large enterprise environment.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience administering Red Hat OpenShift (OCP) in enterprise environments

  • Expert knowledge of Kubernetes administration and container orchestration

  • Advanced experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

  • Strong AWS Infrastructure experience (EC2, VPC, IAM, Route 53, EBS, ELB/ALB/NLB, CloudWatch, S3)

  • Hands-on expertise with DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices

  • Strong automation experience using Ansible, Terraform, and scripting

  • Experience with GitLab, GitOps, and CI/CD pipelines

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across networking, storage, compute, security, and container runtime environments

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the administration, configuration, patching, upgrades, and operational support of OpenShift clusters hosted on AWS.

  • Manage Kubernetes platform operations, including cluster health, scalability, high availability, capacity planning, backup, recovery, and performance optimization.

  • Design and support OpenShift integrations with AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, EBS, ELB/ALB/NLB, Route 53, CloudWatch, and S3.

  • Implement infrastructure automation using Ansible, Terraform, and scripting to standardize provisioning and operational processes.

  • Support CI/CD and GitOps initiatives using GitLab, OpenShift Pipelines, ArgoCD, and Jenkins.

  • Configure and manage namespaces, RBAC, storage classes, routes, certificates, secrets, network policies, and developer self-service capabilities.

  • Troubleshoot complex platform issues involving Kubernetes, networking, storage, ingress, container runtime, and AWS infrastructure.

  • Enforce enterprise security standards, platform hardening, compliance controls, and image governance.

  • Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, security, DevOps, and application teams to deliver reliable and secure container platform services.

  • Develop operational documentation, platform standards, runbooks, and disaster recovery procedures.

  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership for enterprise OpenShift platform operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with OpenShift Pipelines, ArgoCD, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or Shell)

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise Kubernetes platforms

  • Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, AWS, or Linux certifications are highly preferred

Required Experience

  • 8+ years of Infrastructure, Linux, or Cloud Administration experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on OpenShift/Kubernetes Administration

  • Experience leading enterprise platform engineering or SRE teams

  • Strong background supporting production AWS environments
