Job Description

Software Engineer Program Description: Our client is prime on an effort that provides Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) based High Performance Computing (HPC) services through the HPC lifecycle for computational requirements, architecture, acquisition, and operations to federal government customers. This team embraces automation, innovation, and is committed to a culture of continuous, standards-driven process improvement and assimilation of industry best practices.

They are looking for a new team member to provide Software Engineering support for key supercomputing capabilities for solving important problems in science and technology. The tasks involve working on cutting edge HPC technologies to ensure that scientists and engineers will be able to fully utilize modern HPC systems. Day to Day Responsibilities: • Work directly with HPC users on-site to port, parallelize, and optimize scientific codes, reducing time-to-science and meeting specific modeling, simulation, and data-workflow requirements

  • Serve as an active member of the Technical User Support (TUS) team, collaborating with the TUS team lead, program Chief Scientist, customers, users, and site staff to design and implement HPC solutions
  • Analyze and improve system and application performance through benchmarking, profiling, library tuning, and performance analysis of scientific and numerical software
  • Mentor junior TUS and HPC team members through technical guidance, code reviews, and career development support
  • Design and deliver training workshops, tutorials, and documentation to help users and internal staff adopt HPC tools, best practices, and performance-tuning techniques
  • Advise users on effective use of shared production HPC resources, including job scheduling systems, high-performance storage, and secure computing environments

Required Skills: • Bachelor's degree in STEM related discipline and a minimum of 10 years of professional development level experience

  • Around 5 years of experience developing and using modeling and simulation software in heterogeneous, multi-platform environments
  • Working with HPC users workflow for mod/sim problems and GUIs
  • Knowledge of High Performance Computing (HPC) environment and related technologies
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Fortran, C, and/or C++
  • Demonstrated proficiency with BASH OR Korn
  • Linux Operating System proficiency, ability to solve end-user computer system problems while working independently in a lab environment.
  • Proficiency in basic software practices such as coding standards, unit testing, and configuration management
  • Strong ability to analyze, debug, and maintain the integrity of an existing code base
  • Experience designing and delivering training workshops, tutorials, or onboarding material for HPC users and internal staff
