Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an Distribution Systems Supervisor for a Full Time role with one of our premier Utility industry clients in San Jose, CA Position Summary
The Distribution System Supervisor leads field crews responsible for the operation, maintenance, construction, and repair of utility distribution infrastructure. This role ensures safe, reliable, and compliant operations while driving employee development, workforce planning, operational efficiency, customer service, and emergency response readiness.

The Distribution System Supervisor leads field crews responsible for the operation, maintenance, construction, and repair of utility distribution infrastructure. This role ensures safe, reliable, and compliant operations while driving employee development, workforce planning, operational efficiency, customer service, and emergency response readiness.
Responsibilities
- Supervise field employees and contractors, providing leadership, coaching, and performance management.
- Ensure maintenance, construction, and repair work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standards and regulations.
- Monitor field operations, productivity, work quality, and resource utilization.
- Lead safety initiatives, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance efforts.
- Develop employee training, succession plans, and workforce schedules, including overtime and vacation planning.
- Create and maintain SOPs, operational records, asset data, reports, and budgets.
- Support emergency preparedness and participate in on-call and after-hours response activities.
- Address customer concerns and balance operational priorities with service expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, quality, and customer service.
- Strong leadership, team development, coaching, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Knowledge of construction, maintenance, and utility operations practices.
- Ability to interpret plans, drawings, specifications, policies, and procedures.
- Understanding of equipment, tools, and workplace safety requirements.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to perform effectively in deadline-driven and emergency situations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with business systems and software applications.
- Ability to work collaboratively with employees, contractors, and labor representatives.
- Experience supervising union employees in construction, maintenance, or utility operations.
- Experience with distribution infrastructure, inspections, field investigations, or pipeline projects.
- Experience with workforce planning, contractor management, budgeting, and operational reporting.
- Experience developing SOPs, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or equivalent supervisory experience in construction, maintenance, infrastructure, or utility operations.
- Experience leading field-based operational teams.
- Relevant industry certification(s) or the ability to obtain and maintain required certifications.
- Valid driver's license and ability to participate in on-call and emergency response activities.
