About the Role About the Role
The contractor will be engaged as a Senior Microsoft Stack Developer to provide software development capability across the Departments business application environment. The contractor will work under the Departments governance arrangements and delegated authority structures to design, build, test, maintain and enhance applications and related services. Primary Duties Primary Duties Application Development and Delivery
  • Design, build, test and maintain business applications, primarily using Microsoft technologies and the .NET stack, to support the Departments operational and legislative business needs.
  • Coordinate, design, build and maintain Windows desktop and related business applications, including solutions built using C#, WPF and MVVM patterns, and provide technical and professional advice on complex development problems.
  • Design and implement web, API and integration components using ASP.NET, Web API, Azure Functions and related Microsoft technologies to improve functionality, automation and system interoperability.
  • Share expertise and mentor less experienced staff to build team capability, support knowledge transfer and contribute to the effective operation of a small development team.
Application Support, Maintenance and Enhancement
  • Provide support and maintenance for existing applications, including troubleshooting defects, resolving incidents, delivering enhancements, and ensuring applications remain easy to use, responsive and maintainable.
  • Work with stakeholders to analyse requirements, propose technical options, develop user documentation, and prepare presentations for staff on internally developed applications and related solutions.
  • Contribute to coding practice improvements, including quality assurance activities, code reviews, testing practices, documentation and the ongoing uplift of development standards and team capability.
  • Use Azure DevOps, Git and related tooling to support source control, quality practices, and build and release processes, including CI/CD where required.
Microsoft Development Technologies and Integration
  • Demonstrate strong recent experience in .NET development, including C#, ASP.NET, Entity Framework, LINQ, generics, multithreading, object oriented programming, and sound understanding of MVVM and command design patterns.
  • Demonstrate experience with Azure serverless functions, tables and storage accounts, together with familiarity working with JSON and XML in application development and integration contexts.
  • Provide development capability in document and Office automation contexts, including familiarity with the Open Office XML schema and Microsoft Office automation, especially Word, Outlook and Access.
Location and Contract Term Location and Contract Term: This role can be based in ACT.
12 month contract with 1 x 12 month contract extension options pending budget and delegate approval. Security Requirements Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold an NV1 security clearance.
