In this role, you'll:

We currently have three temporary fixed-term opportunities available for experienced Senior Full Stack Developers (Tech Leads) to join a high-performing engineering team. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle, driving architecture decisions, mentoring developers, and delivering scalable, high-quality applications across both backend and frontend technologies. You are a highly experienced Full Stack Developer with a strong background in modern software engineering and technical leadership. You thrive in collaborative Agile environments and enjoy mentoring developers while remaining hands-on with coding, architecture, and delivery. You have deep expertise across backend and frontend technologies, are passionate about engineering excellence, and can confidently engage with both technical and business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions.

You will bring:

  • 7+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in a Technical Lead or Tech Lead capacity.
  • Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and the Spring Framework.
  • Proven hands-on experience with GraphQL, including schema design, resolvers, and Apollo Federation (or similar federation approaches).
  • Experience with API gateways such as Kong, Apigee, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
  • Cloud experience, ideally with AWS, including Lambda, EKS/Kubernetes, S3, and IAM.
  • Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
  • Strong SQL and relational database experience, with exposure to NoSQL databases being advantageous.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
  • Experience leading technical design and architecture across backend and frontend applications.
  • Strong mentoring capability with a passion for developing and uplifting engineering teams.
  • Experience managing API gateway governance and driving engineering best practices.
  • The ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and lead root-cause analysis activities.
  • AWS Certifications such as Solutions Architect or AI Practitioner.
  • Experience with AWS Bedrock or Generative AI integrations.
  • Experience with Kafka or other event-streaming platforms.
  • Strong Docker and Kubernetes experience in large-scale environments.
  • Previous experience within regulated, government, or enterprise organisations.
