Company Summary
A global leading financial institution is seeking a Senior Lead Counsel to support its growing Spread Products business within the Markets division. The team is responsible for advising on complex securitization and structured finance transactions, including Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) and Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs).
This role is ideal for an attorney with approximately 5+ years of structured finance or securitization experience who is looking to take ownership of sophisticated transactions while partnering directly with business stakeholders at a leading global financial institution.
The Senior Lead Counsel will be responsible for…
- Advising on securitization, asset-backed financing, and structured products transactions
- Leading transactions from structuring through execution and closing
- Supporting the ABS or CLO business as a key legal advisor
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating transaction documentation
- Partnering directly with trading desks, bankers, syndicate teams, and control functions
- Identifying and mitigating legal and regulatory risks associated with structured finance transactions
- Providing legal guidance on transaction structures, market developments, and business initiatives
- Coordinating with external counsel and internal stakeholders throughout the transaction lifecycle
- Managing multiple transactions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Serving as a trusted legal partner to the business while balancing legal, regulatory, and commercial considerations
The Attorney should have the following qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active U.S. bar admission
- Approximately 5+ years of structured finance, securitization, or related transactional experience
- Strong experience with ABS, CLOs, or other asset-backed financing products
- Ability to independently manage and execute transactions
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex structured finance documentation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills
- Ability to work directly with senior business stakeholders
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Experience at a leading law firm or financial institution preferred
- Located in New York
- Hybrid Schedule: 3 days per week-in office
