Facilities Mechanical Engineer - Onsite

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Facilities Mechanical Engineer for an Onsite position with a Global Professional Services Firm located in Wilton, CT. This is a contract to hire opportunity.

As a facilities mechanical engineer, you will work on projects that enable the heart of our client's semiconductor-based manufacturing. In this role, you will collaborate with on-site personnel to support projects of varying size and complexity, including system assessments and scope analysis. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing engineering and construction for facility mechanical systems, including HVAC, process cooling water, wastewater, exhaust, fire protection, plumbing, and process-piping.

Responsibilities:

• Establish and develop scope documents, client specifications and standards, and design requirements to produce construction documents for the installation of complex manufacturing tools and facilities infrastructure mechanical systems
• Perform technical engineering responsibilities including code assessments/interpretation, HAZOP reviews, scope development, design and oversight for piping and ducting for equipment
• Understand site systems for upgrades while collaborating with trades, system/area owners and the client, including understanding P&IDs, layout drawings, details, and equipment plans
• Gather information to provide design options for the client while considering cost, schedule and scope, including running stakeholder meetings that drive decisions and actions

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
• At least 10 years of practical application of mechanical facilities design engineering, including HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and related mechanical facilities systems
• At least 5 years of design project delivery processes experience
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and leadership experience
• Solid knowledge and application of the mechanical requirements per ASME and ASME B31.3, building codes, fire codes, and other related standards, such as ASHRAE
• Solid knowledge in practice and procedures for specifications and selection of all types of mechanical equipment and components
• Experience reviewing vendor submittal packages against client requirements and specifications
• Field experience interacting with subcontractors and construction personnel
• Must be able to complete background check, drug screen and be fully authorized to work for any client in the United States

Desired skills:

• EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
• 5 years of experience as a facility engineer
• Working knowledge of design-related deliverables, such as P&IDs, PFDs, Details, and Equipment Plans, etc.
• Proficient working knowledge of design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit or BIM360
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
• Passionate about buildings and construction

Pay Range: up to $84.13 per hour
