Job Description

Job: Welding / NDT Inspection Engineer (Field Engineer)

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset - 5 days/week on site

Status: Contract until Dec 2026 with good extension possibility – Good Daily Rate - Inside IR35

Start: September 2026 onwards (reasonable notice would be acceptable)


Morson Edge are working on behalf of a major player in the Energy Sector who have a current contract requirement for an experienced Welding / NDT Inspection Engineer (Field Engineer) to join their established site-based team in Bridgwater, Somerset. This is a (renewable) contract position - inside IR35.


Overview:

· As a Field Engineer focused on welding / NDT Inspection, you will oversee critical quality assurance tasks, ensuring construction activities align with contractual and safety requirements.

· You will Identify and mitigate potential quality issues, supporting on-time project delivery.

Principal accountabilities

· Submit and document non-conformance reports as needed.

· Review and monitor Quality Control Plans and Inspection Records.

· Evaluate contractor performance and adherence to standards.

· Contribute to health, safety, and environmental objectives across site operations.

· Ensure documentation and reporting align with regulatory and quality requirements.


Required Skills and Qualifications

· Typically HNC qualified in mechanical/welding discipline or equivalent work history experience

· Welding Inspector qualification (CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent as a minimum).

· Experience in construction involving installation of plant (inc. pressure systems) and structural steel.

· Conversant with British/European standards and design codes including RCC-M and BS EN.

· Proven QA/QC experience and ability to document findings concisely and accurately.

· Strong organisational, delegation, and communication skills.
