Role: Open IMA Development Engineer / IMA Systems Architect

Location: Montreal, QC (Onsite)

Duration: Long-Term Contract

Domain – Aerospace

Rate / Salary : CAD $90/hr.- CAD $100 hr. on C2C / CAD $150,000–$180,000K / Yr.+ Benefits – (Negotiable)

NOTE - DO-297 is a must-have requirement. If the candidate does not have DO-297 experience, please do not share the profile.

 

Mandatory Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) / Open IMA system development
  • Experience with IMA architecture definition, platform integration, and system configuration
  • Strong understanding of IMA partitioning concepts and ARINC 653
  • Experience with avionics platform integration including CPU, memory, and I/O resource allocation
  • Experience managing avionics system interfaces and aircraft data networks
  • Strong knowledge of AFDX / ARINC 664 standards
  • Experience supporting avionics certification activities (FAA, EASA, Transport Canada, or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of DO-178C, DO-297, and DO-254 standards
  • Experience creating technical documentation and certification support artifacts
  • Prior experience working with an Aircraft OEM or major aerospace organization

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain Integrated Modular Avionics system architecture aligned with aircraft-level requirements
  • Support Open IMA platform development, integration, and certification activities
  • Configure partitions and ensure compliance with platform constraints
  • Support verification, traceability, and certification documentation
  • Manage avionics interfaces and resolve architecture/integration challenges
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams during design reviews
  • Provide technical guidance on IMA architecture and platform integration best practices

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience certifying Open IMA platforms with major certification authorities
  • Aircraft-level avionics architecture experience
  • Experience with application hosting and resource allocation
  • Experience with aerospace organizations such as Airbus, Boeing, Collins Aerospace, Thales, Honeywell, Safran, GE Aerospace, or similar
