Job Description

Drainage Engineer Salary: Up to £50,000 DOE Location: Hybrid - 3 days per week at Head Office (Near Taunton, Somerset) Contract: Full-time, Permanent (Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm) Our client is a well-established and growing civil engineering specialist with an excellent reputation across the South West.

As part of their continued expansion, they are looking to recruit a Drainage Engineer to join their experienced design team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer looking to work on a diverse range of drainage and infrastructure projects, from initial feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.

The role offers hybrid working, genuine career progression, and support towards professional qualifications. The Role As a Drainage Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering innovative and compliant drainage solutions across domestic, commercial and municipal developments. Your responsibilities will include:

Developing drainage strategies, feasibility studies and technical solutions for a variety of projects. Producing detailed drainage designs, including foul water, surface water, SuDS, pumped and gravity systems. Preparing construction drawings, technical reports, schematic layouts and designer risk assessments.

Completing flood risk assessments and providing technical support throughout construction and commissioning. Producing setting-out information, construction details and clash detection analysis. Working closely with architects, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers and other design professionals to deliver coordinated solutions.

Building and maintaining strong client relationships, assisting with project scoping, fee proposals and progress reporting. Preparing and coordinating statutory submissions, including planning applications, environmental permits and other regulatory approvals. Using MicroDrainage and AutoCAD to develop network models and drainage designs.

About You We're keen to hear from candidates with: Experience in drainage design within a civil engineering, infrastructure or consultancy environment. Strong knowledge of foul and surface water drainage systems, SuDS and flood risk principles. Experience using MicroDrainage and AutoCAD.

A good understanding of UK drainage standards and relevant legislation. Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and liaise effectively with clients and stakeholders. A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative design team.
