Job Description

StripSteak is a modern American steakhouse combined with a unique blend of Asian influence and signature Chef Michael Mina flair. An inventive, and highly curated menu offers guests the best seafood and signature cuts of premium beef, as well as classic Chef Mina favorites.

THE JOB:

As a Sous Chef at Mandalay Bay's Stripsteak, you will be responsible for ensuring food quality is superior. You will also set the stage for guest experience with your welcoming smile and service. By understanding their unique stories and needs, you will own their experience to create WOW memories they will carry with them far and beyond their stay with us.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Conduct training for Master Cooks, Cooks, Pantry Workers and Helpers on job responsibilities

  • Ensure requisitions are processed properly and placed in designated area

  • Label and date all products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation

  • Create, read, measure, and execute recipes

  • Maintain an exceptional menu knowledge and attention to detail with plate presentation

  • Ensure food quality is superior and take action to correct any irregularities

  • Communicate with management and service staff and address any issues or needs requested by guests and employees

  • Assist Executive Chef by controlling purchasing, receiving, purveyor lists and inventory of all kitchen items

  • Prepare and administer kitchen schedule, payroll, training, issuing discipline, and coaching

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • 21+ years of age or older

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays

  • Experience managing employees using a Collective Bargaining Agreement preferred

  • 2+ Years of prior relevant experience working a high-volume restaurant, production kitchen, or fine dining restaurant as a Chef

  • 2+ Years of prior relevant experience in a high-volume restaurant production as well as in a hotel/casino environment preferred

  • Associate's degree in an F&B and/or course certification from an accredited Culinary Institute preferred
