Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a qualified EMC Test Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for testing, simulating, and validating the EMC performance of various Cisco hardware products.

Responsibilities

  • Test, simulate, and validate EMC performance for various Cisco hardware products
  • Work with cross-functional teams to bring up and configure Cisco hardware
  • Collaborate with the EMC lab lead, project teams, and EMC design teams to plan prototype allocations, EMC test cases, and EMC testing dates
  • Configure Cisco hardware and software to exercise the equipment under test (EUT) for EMC compliance testing
  • Perform EMC compliance testing—independently or as part of a team—on networking equipment such as switches, routers, servers, access points, video equipment, IP telephones, and security devices
  • Write Test Assessment Plans (TAP), define EMC test cases, and generate EMC test reports using an in-house report-generation tool
  • Follow EMC test procedures in accordance with worldwide regulatory standards, including but not limited to:
    • EN/IEC 61000-4-x series
    • 47 CFR Part 15
    • ICES
    • CISPR 22, 24, 32, 35
    • VCCI
    • CNS 13438
    • KN 32, KN 35
    • EN 300 386
    • EN 55022, 55024, 55032, 55035
  • Apply or develop knowledge of additional EMC standards, including CISPR 32/35, railway standards (EN 50155, EN 50121-3-2, EN 50121-4), and NEBS GR-1089

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSEE with some related experience, or an ASEE with several years of EMC test experience, or significant EMC testing experience
  • Experience with test and measurement equipment, including EMI receivers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power amplifiers, and power meters
  • Experience with IXIA traffic generators and wideband communication testers highly preferred
  • Knowledge of Cisco products or experience with networking equipment highly preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of EMC standards
  • Familiarity with Cisco products and tools
