Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled Senior Android Engineer to join the mobile engineering team in Columbus, OH. The ideal candidate will have strong experience developing native Android applications using Kotlin and Java, with a solid understanding of modern Android architecture, mobile security, APIs, and CI/CD. The candidate will work closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and other technology teams to build secure, scalable, and high-quality mobile applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
• Build scalable and high-performance mobile applications following modern Android development practices.
• Develop reusable UI components and implement responsive mobile user experiences.
• Work with Android SDK, Jetpack, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android architecture patterns.
• Integrate mobile applications with RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Implement secure authentication, authorization, encryption, and data-protection mechanisms.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, architects, and backend engineers to deliver new mobile capabilities.
• Analyze application performance and troubleshoot crashes, defects, and production issues.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code.
• Develop unit tests, integration tests, and UI tests to ensure application quality.
• Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to other developers.
• Contribute to architecture and technical design discussions.
• Work with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and automated mobile application builds and deployments.
• Monitor application performance and address technical debt and scalability concerns.
• Follow JPMC engineering, security, compliance, and SDLC standards.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of experience in software/mobile application development.
• Strong hands-on experience in Android application development.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and solid experience with Java.
• Extensive experience with Android SDK and Android Studio.
• Strong knowledge of Android Jetpack components.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android UI development.
• Strong understanding of Android application architecture such as MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Repository patterns.
• Experience developing and consuming REST APIs.
• Strong knowledge of JSON, HTTP, and API integration.
• Experience with Android testing frameworks such as JUnit, Espresso, and Mockito.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD processes.
• Strong understanding of mobile application security and secure coding practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
