Role Overview
We are seeking a Workday Financials Functional Consultant with master-level expertise in executing Workday fiscal year-end close processes within a healthcare nonprofit environment. This is a fully remote, contract-to-hire position operating on Eastern Time Zone hours. You will serve as the ultimate subject matter expert, managing unique nonprofit ledger structures, fund restrictions, and healthcare compliance frameworks during critical year-end configurations.
Key Responsibilities
- Nonprofit Year-End Close: Lead the end-to-end Workday Fiscal Year-End close process, managing balance roll-forwards, net asset classifications (restricted vs. unrestricted), and fund balance adjustments.
- Healthcare & Grant Compliance: Configure and audit Workday Financials to ensure strict alignment with GAAP nonprofit standards, Uniform Guidance, HIPAA data privacy, and healthcare regulatory reporting.
- Fund & Gift Configuration: Architect and optimize Workday Foundation Data Model (FDM) worktags, specifically mapping Funds, Grants, Programs, and Gifts for accurate fiscal tracking.
- Process Automation: Implement automated mass close actions, allocation rules, and period-close templates to drastically compress the year-end timeline.
- Data Integrity & Reconciliation: Troubleshoot complex cross-ledger discrepancies, provider/vendor settlement runs, intercompany eliminations, and donor-restricted fund allocations.
- Advanced Reporting: Build and maintain complex composite reports, Matrix reports, and custom data sources for IRS Form 990 preparation and healthcare board reviews.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Time Zone Alignment: Must be fully available to work core Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) business hours.
- Elite Year-End Experience: Minimum of 5 full-lifecycle Workday Fiscal Year-End close cycles successfully executed as a functional lead.
- Industry Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of nonprofit accounting (FASB/ASC 958), fund accounting, and healthcare financial workflows.
- Workday Certification: Current or historical Workday Financials Core or Workday Grants certification is highly preferred.
- Advanced Configuration: Expert-level knowledge of Workday General Ledger, Business Process Framework (BPF), and Account Posting Rules (APRs).
