High-Hazard Underwriting Occupancy Specialist | Johnston, RI, United States | Hybrid

We're hiring for a leading global mutual insurance company with nearly two centuries of expertise in property risk management and resilience, solely dedicated to serving its policyholder-owners. This established organization partners with many of the world's largest companies to help them understand and mitigate business continuity hazards through a combination of loss prevention and insurance.

The Role

• Lead subject areas for Pulp & Paper and Construction for portfolio analysis, capacity, linesetting, and pricing strategies.
• Develop underwriting requirements to support company profit and growth objectives.
• Collaborate with internal teams, engineers, and operations to research emerging risks and develop underwriting procedures.
• Provide leadership and guidance to operations underwriters, ensuring support and understanding of impacts.
• Conduct 2-3 operations underwriting audits annually.
• Contribute to the development of new coverages and products, and assist in system improvements.

What You'll Need

• Bachelor's degree.
• High Hazard underwriting authority in relevant industries.
• 10+ years of experience in engineering and/or underwriting for large accounts, including high hazard occupancies.
• In-depth knowledge of physical facility characteristics and financial motivations within assigned occupancies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and Excel skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for training and requirement development.
