Application Architect

Position Details:

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Application Architect to lead the planning and architectural design of a next-generation water measurement data dashboard. This engagement focuses on solution architecture, UX modernization, integration strategy, implementation planning, and technology modernization. This is a planning and architecture role and does not involve production software development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead discovery sessions and gather business and technical requirements.
• Design solution architecture and define the technology roadmap.
• Create modern, user-centered UX/UI designs and refine existing Figma mockups.
• Develop application, integration, cloud, and security architecture.
• Plan modernization strategies for legacy applications.
• Define API integration, GIS architecture, and cloud deployment approaches.
• Prepare implementation roadmaps, product backlogs, project schedules, and cost estimates.
• Produce architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and knowledge transfer plans.

Required Qualifications:

• Enterprise Solution/Application Architecture experience.
• Modern web application architecture and design.
• UX/UI and user-centered design experience.
• Agile delivery methodologies.
• Cloud architecture and API integration.
• Security architecture and implementation planning.
• Requirements gathering and stakeholder management.
• Legacy system modernization experience.
• Strong architecture documentation and roadmap development skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Water resources, environmental systems, or scientific data platforms.
• GIS technologies (ArcGIS Maps SDK, MapServer, Geospatial Architecture).
• React, Node.js, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
• HydroServer, HydroServer APIs, HydroServerPy, and SensorThings APIs.
• CI/CD and GitHub-based development.
• Government or public-sector modernization projects.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Experience with water resources, environmental systems, scientific data, or related technical domains.
• UX-centered application modernization experience using Agile methodologies.
• Ability to provide your current hourly rate expectation and availability.
