Senior Data Engineer

Overview

Full time, fixed term Senior Data Engineer position until December2027, based at the Melbourne CBD campus with hybrid work arrangements. Salary includes base + 17% superannuation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of scalable, AI ready data products across multiple delivery squads.
• Partner with technical and business stakeholders to build reusable data assets and establish best practice engineering standards.
• Shape the future of the university's data platform by influencing data architecture and platform decisions.
• Develop, maintain and optimise data pipelines, models and semantic layers using Snowflake, dbt, SQL and Python.
• Apply DataOps principles to ensure continuous delivery, monitoring and performance of data services.
• Collaborate with analytics teams to enable advanced analytics and AI use cases.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working with multiple data sets and distributed computing tools.
• 5+ years of experience with SQL, Python and data transformation languages.
• Strong analytic capability and ability to integrate team efforts into broader organisational goals.
• Experience designing, delivering and operating data sets for education institutions is highly regarded.
• Experience with Snowflake, dbt, GitHub, SageMaker and AWS is highly regarded.
• Experience configuring Snowflake's AI components and developing semantic models is highly regarded.
• Experience with agile (data) development and DataOps practices is highly regarded.
• Experience with cloud approaches and capabilities is highly regarded.
• Ability to design conceptual, logical and physical data models.
