Job description

High performance isn't a given. It’s built on standards.
Standards that have driven McLaren for over 60 years.
And if you’re ready for the challenge, that standard is yours to own.
Burning enthusiasm. Constant improvement. The thrill in the pursuit of better.
That’s how we build a legacy. And how you build a career here.
Because racing isn’t just something we do. It’s who we are.
We are racers.
Are you?

Working as part of the Machine Shop team, you will support the manufacture of high-quality metallic components for Formula 1 race cars, Aero R&D, pit equipment and heritage programmes. Combining practical machining support with process improvement, you will help ensure operations run safely and effectively, delivering quality components on time and in full.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare machines, fixtures, tooling, materials and job packs for production, including assembling and pre-setting tooling to prescribed set-up sheets.
  • Operate CNC equipment and support component inspection, hand finishing, deburring, tapping, cleaning and packing to the required quality standards.
  • Complete works order bookings, tooling and production records, planned TPM and preventative maintenance, while maintaining a safe and organised working environment.
  • Collect manufacturing, quality and process data, identify improvement opportunities and help implement changes that increase efficiency, reliability, throughput and waste reduction.

What You'll Bring:

  • A time-served apprenticeship, engineering technician or machinist background, or equivalent practical manufacturing experience.
  • Experience manufacturing small-batch precision components, ideally within motorsport, aerospace or another demanding industry, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • A good understanding of machining processes, tooling, work holding, component inspection, quality verification and manufacturing health and safety requirements.
  • Competence in Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to maintain accurate records and communicate process information; experience with MRP, CAD/CAM, tooling or fixture design would be advantageous.

Personal Attributes:

You will be an energetic, self-motivated and respectful team player with strong written and verbal communication skills. You will bring a proactive, results-focused approach to continuous improvement, maintain attention to detail and remain composed and professional under pressure

Success in racing comes from bringing together talented people with different skills, perspectives and experiences. We're committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone feels supported and empowered to deliver their best work.

Alongside a range of wellbeing initiatives and development opportunities, we're committed to helping you build a rewarding career and make your mark at McLaren Racing.
