Job Description
Summary
***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE***
We're looking for an IT Engineer to join our Support Services team, working alongside experienced colleagues to provide technical solutions that support both project delivery and operational IT services. In this role, you’ll help ensure core IT services are maintained to a high standard while contributing to the implementation of approved technical designs. You'll have the opportunity to work across a variety of technical environments, collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers, and develop your expertise within a supportive and forward-thinking technology function.
What it's like to work here
You'll be part of the Technical Consultancy team within Support Services, working closely with IT Senior Engineers, specialist technical teams, project colleagues and external partners. The team plays an important role in translating technical design into practical, operational solutions that support organisational objectives and user needs. Collaboration is at the heart of how we work, with colleagues sharing knowledge, supporting one another and contributing to continuous improvement across IT services. You'll be encouraged to develop your skills, stay informed about emerging technologies and work alongside experienced professionals who are committed to delivering service excellence and maintaining high technical standards.
Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.
What you'll be doing
You'll support the delivery of technical solutions that align with technology strategy, standards and business requirements. You'll assist with understanding and implementing approved technical designs, helping to move solutions from concept into operational use. Working with internal teams, suppliers and subject matter experts, you'll contribute to the development and delivery of innovative IT services and support ongoing operational excellence.
You'll help maintain core IT services, supporting incident resolution and ensuring systems remain reliable and effective for users. You’ll contribute to projects, continuous improvement initiatives and operational activities, working independently or as part of a wider team. The role also involves collaborating with stakeholders across IT, supporting governance and quality assurance activities, and helping ensure technical solutions are delivered in line with architectural frameworks and best practice. Alongside your day-to-day responsibilities, you'll be encouraged to continue developing your knowledge and skills while contributing positively to a collaborative and inclusive working environment.
You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.
