Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Scrum Master Technical Project.

Summary:
This is not a Scrum Master role focused solely on facilitating ceremonies. The ideal candidate understands how to lead Agile teams while also taking ownership of project execution, deliverables, timelines, risks, dependencies, and successful completion.

The environment is primarily Agile, with limited Waterfall methodology used where necessary for integration or broader project delivery.

We are looking for someone who takes a personal investment in the success of their projects - not someone who simply checks boxes, runs meetings, and reports status.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as both Scrum Master and Project Manager, balancing Agile team leadership with traditional project delivery responsibilities

Lead Agile ceremonies including:

  • Daily stand-ups
  • Sprint planning
  • Retrospectives
  • Backlog refinement
  • Demos/reviews
  • Planning sessions
  • Manage projects throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from planning through implementation and successful completion.
  • Own project execution and ensure teams remain focused on committed deliverables and outcomes
  • Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, timelines, dependencies, risks, issues, and action items
  • Track deliverables through completion rather than simply reporting on project activity
  • Identify risks, blockers, and dependencies early and proactively drive resolution
  • Hold teams accountable for commitments while fostering a collaborative and productive Agile environment
  • Provide clear, timely project updates to stakeholders and leadership
  • Manage competing priorities and help teams navigate changes throughout the development lifecycle
  • Drive projects toward successful delivery while maintaining visibility into scope, schedule, quality, and overall project health

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Senior-level experience as a Scrum Master, Project Manager, or hybrid Scrum Master/PM within a software development organization
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects through the full SDLC
  • Strong Agile/Scrum experience with the ability to facilitate ceremonies and drive team execution
  • Proven end-to-end project management experience, including successfully delivering projects through completion

Experience managing:

  • Scope and deliverables
  • Project schedules and milestones
  • Risks and issues
  • Dependencies
  • Action items
  • Stakeholder communication
  • Ability to demonstrate successful project outcomes, including projects delivered on time, within scope, and within budget when applicable
  • Strong understanding of software development processes and how work moves from requirements/planning through development, testing, implementation, and completion
  • Excellent communication, organization, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and take ownership without requiring significant day-to-day direction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAFe certification or experience working within a SAFe environment
  • Experience operating in organizations that utilize primarily Agile methodologies with some Waterfall integration
  • Experience supporting complex, cross-functional software development initiatives
  • Additional Agile or Project Management certifications are a plus

What Will Set Someone Apart:
Technical expertise alone will not determine success in this position. The strongest candidates will demonstrate ownership, accountability, self-motivation, and a history of actually getting projects across the finish line.

We are especially interested in candidates who can show examples of:

  • Taking ownership of projects from initiation through completion
  • Successfully delivering projects rather than simply participating in them
