We are actively recruiting an Industrial Microwave Engineer for our client in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This is a full-time opportunity that will require onsite work in Oak Ridge on a regular Monday–Friday schedule. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with expertise in high-power microwave systems, industrial heating applications, and electromagnetic design to contribute to complex engineering projects in a multidisciplinary environment. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize industrial microwave heating systems used in production and processing environments.
- Develop microwave system design documents, calculations, reports, and engineering drawings.
- Design and support high-power microwave components.
- Engineer solutions for operation in vacuum, pressurized, corrosive, and other challenging industrial environments.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for project stakeholders, procurement teams, and multidisciplinary engineering groups.
- Develop basis of design documentation and scopes of work.
- Prepare equipment specifications for microwave generators, applicators, plasma suppression systems, arcing prevention equipment, and supporting systems.
- Perform microwave engineering calculations and technical analyses.
- Ensure technical accuracy and compliance with project design criteria.
- Apply appropriate engineering procedures, design standards, guidelines, and tools.
- Support equipment selection, project budgets, schedules, and vendor coordination.
- Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to achieve project objectives.
- Support refurbishment, modernization, and upgrades of existing industrial facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of microwave design experience in industrial heating, high-power RF, or related applications.
- Experience using network analyzers to characterize component performance, validate modeling results, and troubleshoot microwave systems.
- Knowledge of industrial microwave heating systems, applicator technologies, electromagnetic systems, and microwave engineering calculations.
- Experience with electromagnetic simulation and analysis software such as:
- Ansys HFSS
- COMSOL
- ADS
- IcePak
- Similar modeling tools
- Understanding of industrial electrical distribution systems, including 120 VAC and 480 VAC applications.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required site access credentials or security badges.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3D solid modeling for high-power electromagnetic and thermal system design.
- Significant experience with industrial production microwave heating systems.
- Knowledge of applicable building and electrical codes, including the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Advanced experience with Ansys HFSS, COMSOL, or comparable electromagnetic simulation software.
- Experience designing high-power microwave components and integrated thermal/electromagnetic systems.

- Location: Oak Ridge, TN
- Work Arrangement: Onsite
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 40-hour work week
